Jay and Kay at FRIM

Located in Kepong, 16km northwest of Kuala Lumpur is a well managed forest science park. Covering 600 hectars of experimental plants and reforested areas, FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia) let visitors to experience the wonders of a tropical forest. There are jungle trails, a canopywalkway high up in the trees, waterfall, a herb garden, a library and museum exhibiting different species of tropical wood, their uses and product.

Located within one of the world's oldest forest research centres, its canopy walkway once solely used for research purposes only, is now open to the public. Canopy walkways are hanging walkways mounted high to view over tree tops and among canopies. It is also constantly kept in shape (closed on Monday for maintenance), waiting for like minded lovers of outdoor life.

While in the forest, feast yourself to some rare sights of plants fending to survive in their jungle.


Our trip to FRIM:

Duration: A few hours in the morning
Travels: On foot. You need a pair fo good hiking shoes.
Cost: RM6 for parking your car in the vicinity. RM5 to use the canopy walkway.
Perks: Canopy walkway, giant bamboos, trees of hundreds of years, creepy crawlies and the wonders of flora.
